SURI Restore Toothpaste Review
SURI Restore Toothpaste: A Dentist’s Honest Review
SURI has quickly made a name for itself in oral care, thanks to its beautifully designed, environmentally conscious electric toothbrush, a product I personally use and recommend for its effectiveness and sustainability.
Building on that success, SURI has extended its principles of thoughtful design and minimal environmental impact to its new Restore toothpaste.
Here’s my honest review of this fluoride-free, nano-hydroxyapatite-based paste, which aims to offer a sustainable and ethical alternative without compromising on care.

Summary
In summary, while I admire SURI’s commitment to sustainability, good design, and providing a fluoride-free alternative for those who want one, I don’t see myself switching to Restore toothpaste.
It looks great, has a well-thought-out formulation, and aligns with the brand’s ethos, but the mild flavour, lack of foam, and short-lived clean feeling let it down for me (and also for my nurse, receptionist and wife).
Clinically, nano-hydroxyapatite shows promise for sensitivity and enamel repair, but fluoride remains the gold standard for decay prevention.
However, if you’re determined to avoid fluoride, SURI Restore is one of the better options available.

Nano-hydroxyapatite is still not officially recommended for caries prevention
About SURI Restore Toothpaste
SURI Restore is designed as a fluoride-free toothpaste for people who want an alternative to traditional formulations, without compromising on care or ethics. Its formulation centres on nano-hydroxyapatite, a mineral that mimics the natural building blocks of enamel.
Research shows this ingredient can help remineralise the tooth surface and reduce sensitivity, making it a promising option for those who cannot or choose not to use fluoride, although it is worth noting that fluoride remains the most evidence-backed ingredient for preventing decay.
The toothpaste is also SLS-free, which can help reduce irritation and ulcers in people sensitive to foaming agents, and it’s made to be vegan and cruelty-free. The 100% recyclable tube reflects SURI’s wider commitment to sustainability, as seen with their electric toothbrush.
Key features of SURI Restore Toothpaste
Fluoride-free, using nano-hydroxyapatite to help repair enamel and reduce sensitivity.

Contains cornmint oil, providing a cooling, soothing freshness after brushing.
Free of SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), making it gentler on soft tissues.
Fully vegan, cruelty-free, and packaged in a 100% recyclable tube.
Designed to last about two months per 75ml tube.
About Nano-Hydroxyapatite
One of the standout ingredients in SURI Restore is nano-hydroxyapatite — a synthetic form of the natural mineral that makes up the majority of tooth enamel and dentine
It was originally developed by NASA to help astronauts combat mineral loss in their teeth and bones during space missions, and has since been adapted for use in dentistry and oral care.
Nano-hydroxyapatite works by depositing mineral into microscopic defects on the enamel surface, helping to repair early demineralisation and relieve sensitivity by blocking open dentine tubules. Unlike fluoride, which strengthens enamel by creating a more acid-resistant layer, hydroxyapatite integrates directly into the tooth surface.
Current research supports its benefits for:
Reducing tooth sensitivity.
Improving enamel smoothness and gloss.
Remineralising areas of early enamel wear.
However, it is important to note that long-term clinical studies comparing it to fluoride are still limited. Fluoride remains the gold standard for preventing tooth decay, while nano-hydroxyapatite shows strong potential as an alternative for patients who cannot or prefer not to use fluoride.
Clinical Effectiveness
Nano-hydroxyapatite shows promising results for reducing sensitivity and repairing early enamel damage by restoring minerals to the tooth surface.
However, long-term evidence is still limited, and fluoride remains the gold standard for preventing decay.
SURI Restore is a good option for those who prefer to avoid fluoride, but I still recommend fluoride toothpaste for most patients.
Sustainability
SURI Restore reflects the brand’s strong commitment to sustainability.
The toothpaste comes in a 100% recyclable aluminium tube, helping reduce plastic waste compared to standard tubes. It is also vegan, cruelty-free, and free from unnecessary additives like SLS, aligning with ethical and environmentally conscious values.

Final Thoughts
SURI Restore is a beautifully designed, ethically made toothpaste that fits perfectly with the brand’s sustainable ethos.
While I appreciate its recyclable packaging, gentle formulation, and the use of nano-hydroxyapatite as a fluoride alternative, it doesn’t quite meet my expectations in terms of taste, foam, and lasting freshness.
Clinically, it’s a reasonable choice for those who prefer to avoid fluoride, but I’ll be sticking to my regular fluoride toothpaste for now.
That said, for patients who are committed to a fluoride-free routine, Suri Restore is one of the better options available and a step in the right direction for more sustainable oral care.
