The Best Electric Toothbrushes Under £200 (UK)
Medically reviewed by Dr Zaeem Jafri BDS on 12th December 2025
On the hunt for a new electric toothbrush? We’re glad to hear you want to level up your dental care, and we’re here to help guide you to the perfect brush that’s going to keep your pearly whites clean, plaque-free and back to looking their best.
Just some of the brushes we’ve tested during our research
Manual toothbrushes are proven to be inferior to electric toothbrushes, largely because motorised models are more efficient, require less physical effort, and most come with heaps of features to make the process easier, from AI mapping of your mouth, dirt-busting vibrations, and multiple cleaning modes that are dedicated to whitening teeth, dealing with sensitive gums or even cleaning your tongue.
However, all this functionality comes with a higher cost. Even a quick glance on Amazon’s electric toothbrush list will show devices that cost upwards of £300, which is a lot for a tool you’ll use twice a day. All we care about, as dentists, is that you’re using the electric toothbrush properly, and in most cases, whatever brush you can afford will suffice, but if you’re taking your dental hygiene seriously, there are benefits to spending a little more. Below, we’ve picked out the best options for under £200 that offer affordability but also do a stand-up job of cleaning your teeth.
From Oral-B and Philips, to Aquasonic and Spotlight, these are our top picks for the best electric toothbrushes under £200.

** A note about pricing: These toothbrushes fluctuate in pricing all the time, so the prices listed below are approximate costs. Oral-B and Philips brushes are never really sold at their RRP, so just ignore those inflated costs and discounts. **
Oral-B iO3
Key specs
2-min timer: Yes
Pressure sensor: Yes
Cleaning modes: 3 - Daily clean, sensitive, and white
Battery life: 2 weeks
The Oral-B iO3 is one of our favourite options at a mid-range price, as it offers some great cleaning features, but is also affordable. The RRP is £160 but it’s often even cheaper on Amazon, and it’s stuffed with great features like a two-minute timer, a pressure sensor to warn you off pressing too hard, and a purpose-built brush head that’ll protect your gums as you clean.
There aren’t any cleaning modes, but honestly, we don’t think you need one, as the standard brushing motion does a great job of cleaning your teeth with proper technique.
Pros: Three cleaning modes | Long-lasting battery | Travel case included
Cons: Handle is a bit weighty, take note
Suri 2.0
Suri’s second iteration toothbrush is one of the best on the market, both for affordability and it’s ability to keep your teeth clean and healthy. It’s a stripped-back brush without any additional cleaning modes, but the huge 40-day battery keeps it going between charges for ages, and the brush heads are designed to keep your gum line protected while you brush.
We love the UV cleaning and charging case, which eliminates bacteria between brushes, keeps your brush topped up with battery and also functions as a great travel case.
Pros: Eco-friendly | Affordably priced and simple | Long-lasting battery
Cons: We can’t find one
Oral-B iO2
Key specs
2-min timer: Yes
Pressure sensor: Yes
Cleaning modes: 3 - Every day, Sensitive and Sensitive Plus
Battery life: 1 month
Oral-B’s iO series is full of top-tier smart toothbrushes with AI features, but the cost can get astronomical, so we’ll look down at the more affordable end of the scale at the iO2, which still has a lot of great features, but declutters the handle to keep things simple and effective. There’s only one button on the brush, the power button (which also doubles up as a selector for the three cleaning modes), and a pressure sensor light along the neck, but it does an excellent job of cleaning your teeth, and it’s notably quiet, which is not something you can say for many of the more expensive Oral-B iO brushes. A month of battery is more than enough to keep you cleaning twice a day without spending too much time attached to the plug socket recharging, and it comes with a travel case as well.
Pros: Whisper-quiet | Simple to use | Huge battery
Cons: Still fairly pricey considering the features on offer
Aquasonic Black Series
Key specs
2-min timer: Yes
Pressure sensor: Yes
Cleaning modes: 4 - Soft, Clean, Massage, Whiten
Battery life: 40 days
If big brands like Oral-B and Philips aren’t impressive enough, then we’d like to show you the Aquasonic Black Series, a remarkably affordable option that offers top-spec features but costs less than £50 on Amazon. Copying Philips’ sonic pulses, the Black Series vibrates intensely at over 40,000 motions a minute, buzzing along your teeth to lift off plaque with its stiff bristles.
Four cleaning modes offer you some flexibility in how you tackle your dental issues, with dedicated whitening and sensitive gum modes to help if that’s what you need to tackle.
It also uses wireless recharging, with a handsome plinth to keep your brush topped up with battery.
Pros: Very affordable | Wireless fast charging
Cons: Handle is quite big and heavy
Spotlight Oral Care Sonic Pro
Key specs
2-min timer: Yes
Pressure sensor: Yes
Cleaning modes: 4 - Daily, Whiten, Sensitive, Sensitive Plus
Battery life: 70 days
Another alternative dental care brand, Spotlight’s Sonic Pro is a sensational toothbrush for the cost, using sonic vibrations at more than 50,000 motions a minute to lift plaque from your teeth without feeling scratchy against your gums. Just hold the bristles against each tooth and let the vibrations do all the hard work. The biggest selling point is that the battery is staggering at more than 70 days between recharges, making it one of the most stamina-efficient models available. The trade off is that the handle is quite heavy, but visually, it’s reduced and minimal, so it still looks reasonably handsome on the bathroom sink.
Pros: Immense battery life | Menial design and great cleaning features
Cons: Heavy
Philips Sonicare DiamondClean 9000
Key specs
2-min timer: Yes
Pressure sensor: Yes
Cleaning modes: 12 - Clean, White+, Gum sensitive and Deep Clean+ with three intensity levels
Battery life: 1 month
The £300 RRP may be off-putting here, but Philips’ Sonicare DiamondClean 9000 is often discounted well below £200, and if you can find it at that cost, you absolutely should snap it up, as it’s one of the best value high-end electric toothbrushes on the market. The sonic pulses are excellent at clearing plaque from your teeth, working in tandem with the inward-pointing bristles that work their way between the teeth to clear our stubborn left-over food and debris. You’ll find many top-end features like a pressure sensor, multiple cleaning modes and personalised dental guidance via the app.
Pros: Personalised brushing guidance with the app | Top-end sonic pulse technology
Cons: Usually very expensive, take care to look out for discounts
Oral-B Genius X
Key specs
2-min timer: Yes
Pressure sensor: Yes
Cleaning modes: 6 - Daily, Professional cleaning, Sensitive, Whitening, Gum care and Tongue cleaning
Battery life: 1 month
Fancy some of Oral-B’s top-end AI smart features found in the iO8-10 series, but balk at the high price tag? The Genius X provides the Bluetooth connectivity of the pricier models and multiple cleaning modes for a much lower price. Sync it up to your smartphone and view real-time brushing feedback, with a map of your mouth and each tooth to let you know if you need to go back and brush more closely and when to move onto the next one. With six different cleaning modes to choose from, you can customise your routine and find the rhythm that suits your morning and evening brushing sessions.
Pros: AI smart Bluetooth connectivity | Broad range of cleaning modes
Cons: AI tech might be a thinly-worn novelty for some users
Philips Sonicare 5500
Key specs
2-min timer: Yes
Pressure sensor: Yes
Cleaning modes: 2 - Daily and sensitive
Battery life: 1 month
One of Philips’ more reduced and simple electric toothbrushes, the Philips Sonicare 550 still offers some of the best cleaning action available thanks to the brand’s sonic pulse technology. The oval-shaped brush is designed to wrap around the tooth and deliver the vibrating pulses to efficiently lift plaque and give you the cleanest smile around. Only two cleaning modes are available, but the brush learns as you use it, slowly increasing or decreasing its intensity depending on your brushing style, making it a great choice for sensitive gums.
Pros: Built-in brushing timer and pressure sensor | Excellent build quality
Cons: Is quite long and bulky
FAQs
Is it better to pick up a cheap electric toothbrush?
General opinion from dentists is that, as long as you have an electric toothbrush and you use it regularly, you’re already on the way to better oral hygiene. Depending on your budget, you may not be willing to spend a great deal of money on a tool you use twice a day, and while many features found on the very expensive models will be useful, some are often gimmicks or don’t really help you clean your teeth. Features like AI integration with your smartphone sound great, but we’d rather you focus on your brushing technique than staring at your smartphone, and there’s no use spending all that money if you’re not going to actually use the features.
Stick within your budget and buy the brush that makes most sense to your situation.
Do electric toothbrushes come with travel cases?
The majority of electric toothbrushes come with a travel case so you can chuck it in your suitcase and travel in confidence that it won’t turn on by accident in your bag, or ruin your clothes with leftover toothpaste. However, some cases are more advanced, with some offering wireless recharging while you travel, or even UV lights that eliminate bacteria.
